Brittany + Dave at Pilot Knob Vineyard
This wedding will go down in the books as one of my all-time favorites, and that is true for so many reasons. First, Brittany and I were on drill team together in high school. (Yes, I said it. Drill team. Welcome to Texas.) I am infinitely grateful for every couple I get the opportunity to work with, but when someone I know reaches out and asks me to be part of their day, it is all the more special.
Secondly, the elements of their day came together in the most authentic, genuine way to create an event that was uniquely Brittany and Dave’s. Brittany’s aunt and uncle own the vineyard where they were married, so they got to celebrate in a familiar (beautiful!) place. Brittany and Dave envisioned an intimate dinner party, so we brought in vineyard tables and bistro chairs to create three long dinner tables. Guests were served family style, and the wine and conversation and laughter flowed freely. We kept the rest of the design simple and elegant: bright springtime blooms and table runners in complementary colors. Brittany DIY’ed many of the other fun elements you see (cupcake stands, groom’s party boutonnieres, etc.) to ensure that every detail was thoughtful and personal.
Lastly, and probably most importantly, their day was warm, happy, inviting, comfortable. When you were there, you could feel it. And I think if you look closely, you’ll be able to see it in every gorgeous image from Shalyn and Drew Nelson.
